Wind-linked Rock Island line seeks Iowa approval
Rock Island Clean Line LLC seeks permission from the Iowa Utilities Board to build a 500 mile direct current transmission line across 16 Iowa counties to move wind power to Illinois and beyond. The $2 billion project would cost about two years to construct after approvals and is projected to power 1.4 million homes while creating jobs and tax revenue, though over a thousand landowners have filed objections.
