Iowa City West High School took first and second place while Jefferson High earned third at the fourth annual Mount Mercy Math Contest held Oct. 17. The event drew more than 280 students from 26 Iowa high schools competing in math accuracy speed modeling and depth.
Grange forms a hall for new era with national convention
The Grange bought a downtown building for one dollar and refurbished it as a Grange Hall. Fifty Grange members will dedicate the old schoolhouse before the 135th National Grange Convention November 12 to 17 at the Crowne Plaza Ballroom. The order, founded in 1867, has 300 000 members and aims to modernize leadership while keeping farm advocacy.
