Auditor notes weaker than expected early voting in Cedar Rapids race
Linn County Auditor Joel Miller says early voting in the 2017 municipal election is slower than hoped with 2,305 ballots returned of 2,778 requested. Eight Cedar Rapids mayoral candidates may boost turnout, but many voters remain undecided four days before Election Day. Runoffs and possible recounts loom if margins tighten.

Marion Ward 2 candidate used company funds for campaign
Peter Johnson of Marion, running in Ward 2, used about 350 of his own dollars and 1,200 in-kind contributions from his dissolved IPM LLC to finance his campaign. IPM Inc. is run by Johnson as its president and he says Industrial Plastics and Machining LLC owns its equipment. He learned of a 2015 dissolution listing but says the form was mailed to the wrong address. He is working to resolve the issue with the Iowa Ethics Board.
