Democratic gubernatorial hopeful Chet Culver announced plans to create high paying manufacturing jobs by building vehicles powered with Iowa grown fuels. He proposed a $100 million Iowa Power Fund to spur private investment in renewable energy and autos of the future, speaking beside a Maytag plant in Middle Amana.
MidAmerican Energy Co reports show spending over 527000 on the Iowa City public utility measure campaign with a 26 to 1 edge against opponents. The company touts 493858 in-kind contributions to its PAC and plans at least 33215 for ads labor and consultants as Iowa City voters decide on a city owned utility.
