Iowa City Man 27 Slain in Exchange of Gunfire

Patrick J. Moody 27 of 527 Grandview Court was shot to death early Wednesday during an exchange of gunfire with Iowa City police investigating a burglar alarm at Cliff Hoag sporting goods at 943 South Riverside Drive. Moody, a University of Iowa graduate student under psychiatric care, died from a chest wound. body taken to Donohue mortuary. Police said Moody fired from inside the store and officers used loudspeakers and tear gas before discovering his body in the repair area. The case remains under investigation.
