Embassy bombing suspects stab guard in federal jail attack
Two U S embassy bombing suspects stabbed a guard at a federal lockup in New York injuring his eye and brain. The guard underwent a lengthy operation and remained in critical condition as authorities identified the suspects Khalfan Khamis Mohamed and Mamdouh Salim, linked to the 1998 Nairobi Kenya Dar es Salaam Tanzania embassy bombings. Salim, the alleged finance chief for Osama bin Laden, faces murder conspiracy and WMD charges. Mohamed had rented a Tanzania bomb factory and was arrested in South Africa.
