Linn County raids recover $20000 in stolen ring loot
An Iowa State Patrol trooper said about $20000 in stolen goods tied to a multi county theft and fencing ring were recovered from four Linn County locations on Tuesday. Detectives linked earlier recovered items found Monday at the Leonard Willard Virginia Winders residence to the same case. A 45 year old man, Leroy Willard, was arrested on eight counts including two of second degree theft. Law enforcement recovered a partially dismantled wrecker, windows and insulation from a storage garage in Marion. The wrecker had been stolen from a Cedar Rapids service station this year and was found with its hoist dismantled. Authorities said the garage was rented under an assumed name and Willard rented the property. Tuesday morning raids recovered $6400 in tools $3400 in kitchen cabinets and a $370 arc welder among other items at rural Cedar Rapids and Marion locations.
