Coe Jazz Band To TV Telecast November 23
The Coe College Jazz Band will be featured in a one hour telecast on 27 Midwest educational stations affiliated with the Central Educational Network. Soloist Rich Matteson will join the band and the Des Moines concert from May is part of the tape. Directed by Jerry Owen the band earned a Cedar Rapids standing ovation for the Oct 16 Sinclair Hall show. The program features arrangements by Matteson and others ranging from Basie to Blood Sweat and Tears. KIIN in Iowa City carried the July concert and will air the Nov 23 program.

Prisoners Hear Classical Concert At Atlanta Federal Penitentiary
Violinist Daniel Heifetz 22 along with Alan Marks and Dominique Merlit performed for about 2,300 inmates in Atlanta. The concert, first of its kind at the prison, drew inmates from the auditorium while others faced TV, recreation or classes. The Pro Musica Foundation tour aims to broaden access to music.
