Community group eyed to buy Odeum Theater in Mount Vernon
Mount Vernon mayors and residents face losing the Odeum Theatre unless a community group raises about 30000 by summer end. Larry Purvis offered 30000 cash with a 40000 loan over 10 to 15 years at 6 percent and would manage the theater for 200 weekly if a non profit group buys it. The Purvises, who built the theater in 1975, say profits barely cover hours and warn the town would lack a cinema if no deal succeeds.
