DNR denies Pattison Sand water export permit
The Iowa Department of Natural Resources plans to deny Pattison Sand Co.’s request to drill a new Jordan aquifer well and export millions of gallons via tank cars to Water Train. DNR cites insufficient information on the project’s beneficial use and raises additional concerns. Pattison had argued the water export would boost regional economic activity, while lawmakers push for stricter underground-water protections.
