Rape case charges reduced in Luther College incident
Three men charged with raping a Luther College student in August 1988 pleaded to misdemeanors in Winneshiek County Court. Craig Yarde Theodore Rohlwing and Robert Ransom entered Alford like guilty pleas with innocence maintained. Sentences include jail time and restitution totaling $4,827 per defendant.

U of Iowa teachers seek grant to boost biology education
The University of Iowa biology faculty earned a five year 1.1 million dollar Howard Hughes Medical Institute grant to train undergraduates and graduates and to develop new biology teaching methods for Iowa junior and senior high schools. They will partner with teachers and expand outreach to Chicago area schools with high minority populations. The program begins July 1 and may start this fall as participating schools are selected.
