Reagan boat stamp proposal targets recreational vessels
A federal license or boat stamp may cost 5 to 40 a year for boats 12 feet and longer. The plan would raise 60 million in 1982 and 200 million by 1986, funding general government use rather than Coast Guard needs. Lawmakers committee hearings were held May 19 in Washington with opposition from boat groups.
