Kalona Amish Tours Draw Visitors From Across Globe
Kalona in Washington County hosts 100000 pilgrims on Kalona Historical Society tours from 49 states and at least 50 foreign countries. Tour guide Sally Kern and director Fern Bontrager praise the village crafted around the 19th century, the scarce violent crime, and the depot’s revival into a bustling tourist hub. Tours run April 15 to Oct 15, priced at 16 dollars per person with a 15 person minimum, including a guided visit and a family style Mennonite lunch.
