Washington OPS officials said a delayed 10 percent rollback in cattle prices will apply to all packinghouses on Friday under a revised regulation to end price-clarity issues. The move follows a May 20 start and aims to restore wholesaler and retailer margins after rising live stock costs.
Officials say large packers escape ceilings until June accounting periods begin while smaller firms face limits. OPS sets cattle ceiling prices effective May 20 in Chicago with prime at 37.00, choice 34.20, good 31.50. market closes higher with prime 39.00 to 39.50, choice 35.75 to 38.00, and good 33.00 to 35.50.
Fayette county 4-H Girls rally day on June 4 at 10:30 a.m. in the Upper Iowa University gym will include a morning business meeting with reports by club presidents and officer elections. Afternoon features officer installation, leader recognition, clover award, folk dance, and talks on World Understanding by Lenore Fellows and Jean Radison.
City of Cedar Rapids invites sealed bids for concrete paving and grading on Bever Avenue Southeast and adjacent streets. Work includes 7 inch reinforced concrete paving with integral curb, earth excavation, and tree removal. Bids open June 14, 1951 at 10 am. The Wallace Mills herd of Coggan led Linn DHIA for May with an average of 60.4 pounds butterfat. Other top averages included Eastern Iowa Artificial Breeding Association 50.1 and individuals Fay Bickel 46.1, Fred Schenke 42.7, Covert Goodlove 41.7, Daniel Rogers 40.9, and Philip Hand 40.2. C. A. Claypool reported 909 pounds milk and 36.3 pounds butterfat from 432 cows, 54 dry. The high cow was a Holstein owned by the Eastern Iowa Artificial Breeding Association with 102.1 pounds butterfat and 2,220 pounds milk.
Dr. John M. Aikman Iowa State botany professor was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science by Nebraska Wesleyan University during the 62nd annual commencement. He earned his bachelor and Master of Arts at Wesleyan and has taught at Iowa State since 1927 while serving on several campus bodies and Iowa Interchurch Council.
Sigourney-Sara Jane Bousley of South English and Stanley Van Auken of North English will represent Keokuk county at the state 4-H conservation camp near Boone from June 5 to 8.

Stewart Holmes attorney notes a hearing date for the will of Soestey Sanna and Rose Vavroch in Linn County Iowa. The instrument purporting to be their will will be considered by the district court at the Cedar Rapids courthouse on a date in May. Joseph Severa, attorney, signs the notice.
Rep Wheeler of Georgia predicts a modification of the beef rollback order after recent hearings. The House Agriculture Committee heard Economic Stabilizer Johnson and Price Administrator Di Salle defend beef controls, with no definite action announced.

An Iowa State College report by E. P. Sylvester and Harold Gunderson shows a rapid rise in farmer owned sprayers on Iowa farms from 1944 to 1950, reaching 41 798 units last year. The study notes 20 percent ownership in Boone county and aligns with independent surveys estimating about 42 000 sprayers statewide.
Marengo-Janet Brockschink of Norway and Wayne Meyer of Guernsey will represent Iowa county at the state 4-H conservation camp held at Camp Mitigwa from June 5 to 8.
The 160 acre Elise Norden farm two miles west of Dysart sold Monday to Art and Ike Fink of Traer for about 400 dollars an acre. Mrs Norden bought it in 1937 with tenant Ed Schnell. the sale was arranged by Walter Moeller, a Dysart Traer broker, as an investment.
