Rubashkin trial jurors view age recognition quiz
Jurors in Sholom Rubashkin's child labor trial at Black Hawk County Court watched an age recognition exercise using mug shots of workers detained in the 2007 08 raid on Agriprocessors Postville plant. Defense questions focused on under age appearances while testimony from Rabbi Weissmandel clarified Orthodox groups roles. Court closures for a furlough and Memorial Day pause further proceedings.

Iowa proposes rules to reform juvenile detention funding
State Auditor David Vaudt urged lawmakers to overhaul how Iowa reimburses juvenile detention centers to align with program goals. DHS says new rules take effect in July after working with Vaudt. The audit found funds favored higher spending centers not necessarily delivering more services. The rules redefine eligible costs require ledgers and approved cost allocation methods. DHS distributed nearly 3.8 million dollars from the fund in fiscal 2009.
