American Profol Inc employees in Cedar Rapids ratified a new three-year deal starting June 1. Wages rise 4.25 percent first year 4 percent second year and 3.75 percent third year with higher health costs offset. Health plan continuity maintained and 401(k) defined contribution improved. About 40 Machinists Local 831 members covered.

Iowa farmers catch up on soybean planting
The Gazette reports Iowa farmers used dry field conditions last week to catch up on planting but remain behind five year averages. 72 percent of soybeans and 98 percent of corn were planted statewide with rains causing soggy soils and delays in southeast Iowa where 41 percent of soybeans were planted.
