Cedar Rapids approves 141 million dollar budget amendment
Cedar Rapids City Council approves a 141 million dollar increase in expenditures and 96 million in added revenue as part of a nearly 779 million fiscal 2021 budget. The changes reflect derecho damage, FEMA and insurance receipts, and pandemic shortfalls while preserving property tax levies. The city expects FEMA costs to be reimbursed at 75 percent with 10 percent covered by the state and 15 percent by the city. External COVID relief of 3.2 million from the state and 3.2 million from the FTA offsets losses, with 23 million of the 28 million in American Rescue Plan funds accounted for in the amendment.
