Neighbors clash with officials over closing of Engine Company 204
In New York City demonstrators linked elbows with politicians as Engine Company 204 and five other firehouses shut on Sunday to trim a 3.8 billion deficit. Mayor Bloomberg defended the closures saying the measure saves about 7 million annually and will not worsen response times. In Pomona California a 2 year old girl was rescued from a running coin laundry washer after her mother was arrested on child endangerment charges following a surveillance tape. The child was treated at a hospital in serious condition with injuries.
