Jaycees violate nine-event limit on Uptown Friday Nights
City officials restricted the Jaycees to nine Uptown Friday Nights events this summer from June 1. A May 18 event at Greene Square Park, titled Swinging in the Park and organized with Renaissance Group sponsorship, drew criticism from local tavern owners who say the Jaycees violated the agreement and crowded out business. The Jaycees acknowledge involvement but say the event followed prior patterns and that the council approved it.
