Truck crash blamed for Skagit River bridge collapse
Officials say a heavy truck struck several girders causing the 1955 Warren Truss bridge on Interstate 5 near Mount Vernon to collapse into the Skagit River. Two cars plunged in but three people were rescued. no fatalities reported. Governor Inslee declared an emergency and estimated full repair costs at about 15 million dollars.
