Eliminate 150 Linn County Tire Inspection Stations
Abandonment of periodic tire inspections for passenger cars last month eliminated 150 of Linn county's 165 tire inspection stations. OPA authorities ordered the action, carried out by C. M. Hicks, former state fire inspector. The move follows concerns over station selection methods and communication to discontinued stations. Only commercial vehicles require inspections now, while passenger cars need inspections only when applying for tire replacements or supplemental gasoline rations. Local reasoning cites geographical distribution and population served in retaining certain stations.
