Nancy Seiberling and Project GREEN’s lasting Iowa City impact
Nancy Seiberling founded Project GREEN in 1968 with Gretchen Harshbarger and Jim Maynard to preserve green spaces amid urban renewal in Iowa City. The group planted medians, trees, and shrubs, raised over two million dollars, and inspired ties with city officials. Seiberling later co founded the Johnson County Heritage Trust which now protects hundreds of acres and eight properties.
