Laurie K Whiting 23 of 1145 Edwin Dr Marion arrested at 1 30 am Thursday in the 1800 block of Seventh Ave Marion. Kimberly D Helgeland 47 of 961 44th St SE second offense arrested at 8 49 pm Thursday at First St E and Lisbon Rd Mount Vernon. Thomas D Cleghorn Jr 26 of 2615 33rd Ave SW second offense arrested at 2 07 am Friday at the scene of a motor vehicle accident at Highway 13 and 29th Ave Marion. Adam W Anderson 22 of 702 Westland Rd NW arrested at 2 40 am Friday at Boyson and Robins Rd. Jason A Reisdorf 27 of 4 Hawkeye Dr Apt 204 North Liberty arrested at 1 59 am Thursday at Clinton and College Sts Iowa City. Also charged with driving while revoked.
Fousseini Fomba, 40, Coralville, charged with second degree criminal mischief for a deep 18 inch scratch on an employer’s car at Wal Mart Coralville on May 6. Mark Cross, 43, Lisbon, accused of armed with intent carrying a .22 handgun to frighten Dale Kielly in a 1500 block alley. also charged with carrying a weapon. Michael Johnson, 29, Des Moines area, accused of forging a check on Kathleen Burvee’s bank account on April 25. Joshua Ward, 18, Ely, accused of third degree burglary breaking into Robert Bieber’s residence to commit theft on April 23.
A string of burglaries across Bertram township and nearby areas from May 15 to May 19 involved homes, businesses, and a storage unit. Valuables stolen include jewelry, electronics, TVs, DVDs, a bike, and cash totaling thousands, with several residences reporting no loss.
Iowa official Dandekar lobbied Gov Culver and the Legislature to back a $150,000 plasma arc waste to energy study in Marion. She aims to show feasibility of a plasma facility, create green jobs in the Corridor, and position Iowa as a renewable energy leader. The project funds an engineering firm to assess equipment costs capacity and byproducts.
Johnson County supervisors weigh a $51000 study proposed by Vernon Research Group to examine wireless county network regional water projects and expanded public transportation. If state funding fails, the survey may be dropped. The study aims to aid future state and federal funding and could start this summer with a final report by late summer or early fall.
