Clipper workers donate books to Cedar Rapids and Iowa City libraries
Clipper Windpower employees worldwide raised eight thousand dollars in book donations for Cedar Rapids and Iowa City public libraries. Through in-house T-shirt sales supporting flood relief, more than 750 books were purchased with discounts from Chelsea Green and New Society Publishers.

Xavier seniors lead meal packing for Kids Against Hunger
Xavier High School seniors concluded a yearlong service project by assembling and packaging 11,100 meals for Kids Against Hunger. The fundraiser included a fasting event dunk tank and bracelet sales to support the effort.

Group donates 11242 to Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center
Organizers of the Amish Harvest Tour to Cure Cancer Courage Ride presented 11242 to the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Iowa on May 7. The event honors Seth Bailey who died in 2003 and since 2006 supporters have raised nearly 53000 for sarcoma research at the Holden Center.

ISU Student Earns Eagle Scout for Cedar Rapids Parks Project
Eric VanDenover, 18, son of Sheila and John VanDenover, earned the Eagle Scout title after refurbishing 4,000 square feet of fencing in four Cedar Rapids parks. A sophomore at Iowa State University, he led 25 volunteers in the project through the Parks and Recreation Department. He previously served as senior patrol leader and troop instructor in Troop 85.
