Cedar Rapids audition finds local opera talent for Magic Flute

Metropolitan Opera tenor James Atherton conducted auditions in Cedar Rapids discovering local and regional talent for Mozart's The Magic Flute to be staged by the Cedar Rapids Symphony in March. The production will be a staged concert opera with a downsized orchestra and simpler set.

Bolt to Leave Cedar Rapids Community Theatre

David L. Bolt, CRCT managing director since 1981, exits July 1 for entertainment related ventures in the Quad Cities. Artistic director Richard Barker becomes executive director, sharing duties as mainstage shows drop from six to four and studio and touring schedule expands. Cindi O'Brien absorbs remaining duties while Barker lightens directing load and plans to stay involved if possible.
