Merill Hunt to retire from DPI after 25 years of service
Merill E. Hunt will retire this week from the rehabilitation education and services branch of the Department of Public Instruction in Des Moines. He began as a vocational rehabilitation counselor and has served in nearly every capacity within the rehabilitation branch since joining 25 years ago. Prior to DPI, Hunt worked for the U.S. Department of Labor in wage and hour and public contracts. After earning a degree from the University of Northern Iowa, he taught band in Keota Sheffield and Anamosa and was a high school principal at Afton.
