Davenport police said Earl Dickey a 32 year old auto mechanic who vanished after a planned car deal left a blood stained coat and a missing wallet in a parked car. He telephoned his wife from Chicago saying he would meet a seller but the notes and shoes were found later with blond hair in the car.

New York Youths Held For Dysart Car Theft
Two youths Raymond Smiley and Robert Murphy from New York were held in Tama county jail after Dysart arrest on car theft charges. They pled guilty before Justice H. L. Zimmer, bound over to the grand jury with $2,000 bond. The car, owned by Ralph Heckroth of Dysart, was taken and wrecked on highway 21 with minor injuries to the pair. Passers-by brought them to Dysart. Town Marshal Wilmore arrested them Thursday morning.

Special to The Gazette Staff Sgt. Harry Nesvik of Ossian was killed in a vehicle accident in Honshu Japan. The War Department notified his father Peter Nesvik on Thursday. At 3 30 a m Friday a blaze leveled a shack along the Mississippi river front. Three people, George Lacy 60 Rose Lacy 50 and George Smith about 50, were burned to death. Firemen call it a flash fire after a worker nearby saw flames from a window and occupants were trapped inside.
