In an April 2024 South America Bridge Festival deal West faced a tough choice after South opened two spades. West bid four diamonds over East’s pass, North doubled, and four spades reached. West led clubs showing a doubleton, East signaled hearts to avoid an entry, and declarer claimed 19 tricks. The defense can credit a heart trick with correct underlead on trick three.
