Huss Eyes Final Camp Before Everest Summit
Iowa climber Chuck Huss and team reached Camp 3 on Lhotse at 23 500 feet after a 21 000 to 23 500 foot climb from Camp 2. Base camp manager Ben Caskey said Huss is in strong shape despite fatigue as weather remains the main concern for the Everest Environmental Expedition 2000.

Sherpa sets record for fastest Everest ascent at 15 hours 56 minutes
Sherpa guide Babu Chhiri, 34, climbed from base camp to Everest summit in 15 hours 56 minutes, breaking the previous record of 20 hours 24 minutes. His brother Dawa waited at the summit as Chhiri, who has climbed Everest nine times, conquered the peak without oxygen. Also that morning, Byron Smith and Michael Down from Canada reached the summit, highlighting a rare multiple ascent day.
