Love Canal Chromosome Study Finds No Increased Damage

Washington reports the Centers for Disease Control and two major labs conclude Love Canal residents show no more chromosome abnormalities than a nearby control group. The study, contradicting a 1980 finding, found no firm link between chemical exposure and chromosome damage or later disease, though some related reports cite birth defects and miscarriages. Lois Gibbs criticized the release as a smoke screen to revitalize the area.
