Regis High School Graduation for 146 Seniors
Regis High School will hold graduation exercises for 146 seniors at 8 p.m. Friday in the school gymnasium. Most Rev. James J. Byrne will speak, with student speakers Mike Meisinger and Mark Valliere. Diplomas will be conferred by Rev. James Sullivan. The list includes 1975 graduates such as Mark Ahart, Paul Ames, Lori Balcom, and many others. Warren Rogers of 272 Norman Drive NE, Mercy Hospital physical therapy director, received the 1975 Olive Farr award for distinguished service in Iowa Physical Therapy Association.

Car crashes through Marshalltown home injuring driver
The David Carmean family woke to a car crash when Paul Robertson's vehicle rammed through the Carmean house in Marshalltown. No residents hurt, Robertson sustained minor injuries and faces charges of speeding reckless driving and failure to stop for an emergency vehicle.

GM recalls 50,000 cars over steering and AC defects
General Motors says about 50,000 current model Chevrolet Camaro and Nova, Pontiac Firebird, Oldsmobile Omega, Buick Apollo and Skylark units may have steering, accelerator, or air conditioning issues. About 16,000 Ventura, Omega, Apollo, and Skylark models may idle improperly. Some 31,000 Camaros could have faulty AC fan blades. No injuries reported.

VW to Dismiss 25 000 Workers and Close Plants
