Naomi Doehel notes fireplaces remain sought after for warmth and ambiance despite costs. Cedar Rapids homes increasingly include them with designs ranging from small prefabs to full wall units, mantels fading while raised hearths persist.
Gloria Greve, 101K Fourth Ave SE, now runs the Tastee Freeze at 85 Sixteenth Ave SW after purchasing Hibbs Tastee Freeze from Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Hibbs who moved to Centerville. Hibbs became a zone manager for Investors Diversified Services. Edward Rehak, realtor, handled the sale.
Misses Schultz and McKnight of 2089 Grande pre SE contracted Rush Construction Co to build a house at 915 Twenty-ninth St NE for late autumn occupancy.
Mr and Mrs Merlin M Hultman formerly of near Yatrfax now run the Oasis motel and Nomad supper club in Burlington. They bought the property from Mr and Mrs Laurence V Franklin of Burlington, with the sale handled by Chamberlain Real Estate.
The Novaks sell multiple properties via John Zachar of Backhe Plumbing to Leona R. Trachta of Wichita via the estate of Joseph Metelak, with possession set for June 1. Included are 2620 Me, 201 Mallory St, 624 2nd Ave NE, and 2215 Second St SW, among others in Rockford and surrounding areas.
Mr and Mrs John E Baumann sold their former residence at 102 Center St NE to Mr and Mrs Iver L Watkins formerly of Kansas City KS. The sale was made by Youll and Gobmann.
Mr and Mrs Michael R Tyron and their four children moved from Sunnyvale California to 613 Twenty-ninth St NE Cedar Rapids. They purchased the new house from Don Harry Construction Co. Mr Tyran is budget director at Collins Radio Co and has served the past year as budget director for the Lockheed Aircraft missiles land spaced division.
The Clarke H Van Meter residence at 1W50 Cottage Grove Ave SE sold to Mr and Mrs Ronald Evans for immediate possession. The sale includes 7 of the original 10 acres, with wooded acres retained west of the grounds. Sold through Hedges Associates Inc in cooperation with Bickel and Byers.
