Fine Cast but Weak Plot in Powell Show
A mixed review of the film starring Powell and Miss Williams. The plot shifts from wartime rising to vice presidency to romance then money tensions, with a late moral turn influenced by a hoodlum saint. The first act provides witty social comedy, notably a dance marathon, but the drama fails to land. Angela Lansbury adds charm, while Detour accompanies as a secondary feature with unresolved murder twists.
