Slight Decline in Retail Food Costs in Cedar Rapids
Special to The Gazette Cedar Rapids saw a 3 percent drop in retail food costs from mid-March to mid-April based on 61 foods tracked by the U S Bureau of Labor Statistics. Meats broadly rose 1 percent while beef and veal gained 2 percent pork 1 percent lamb 3 1 percent eggs fell 9 percent, dairy up 1 percent, and fresh produce up 1.3 percent. Average 61 foods price level was 3.5 percent below a year ago.
