Two Boys Rescued From Cedar River By Patrolmen
Two teenage boys Wayne Eckhart aged 14 of 1748 Mt Vernon Avenue SE and Vernon Hoggek aged 13 of 610 Sixth Avenue SE were pulled from the Cedar River by rope in the hands of Patrolmen Jerry Carroll and Peter Funcke on Sunday afternoon. They stood chest deep at the dam’s west end and were warned to stay still as currents threatened to sweep them away.
