Strong 70 to 80 mph winds battered southwest Cedar Rapids causing extensive destruction. Gypsum Supply warehouses suffered major damage, Permeate Refining building damage neared 500000. About 200 public trees damaged and 48000 Alliant customers lost power with Prairie High School and district servers affected.
