In Cedar Rapids southeast, Herman and Rosie Michel showcase a 30 by 50 by 5 foot pond with 140 koi, 18 000 gallons, 140 tons of rock, and tiered waterfalls. Four men took six weeks to build it at a total cost around thirty thousand dollars, with annual water costs under two thousand. Rosie, 59, works at Rockwell Collins while Herman tends the fish and filter.
