Linn County seeks local-option sales tax in June vote
County voters in Linn County face a June 10 ballot on a 1 percent local-option sales tax with up to two year duration proposed by most towns. Proponents cite school funding equity and flexible revenue sources for communities while opponents warn the tax is regressive and shifts costs to lower income residents. Prairieburg proposes no expiration date for its local option tax. Bertram already keeps a long-running tax with no expiration.
