Linn-Mar Community Schools will hold an All-Staff Recognition Event at 8:30 a.m. Friday in the Linn-Mar High School Upper Commons Marion. More than 80 employees with 1,500 years of combined service will be honored as 19 retirees are recognized.

Benton County supervisors approve a fee increase for private water well permits from $50 to $100. The change follows a state rule requiring $25 per permit. Sanitarian Marc Greenlee notes the department processes 50 to 60 permits yearly and collects about $15,000 annually in water well and septic fees.
Police Capt. Jeff Mellgren presented the internal affairs bureau to a May 4 class, detailing 23 years with the department and typical citizen complaints. He stressed misconceptions and noted policies on detainees and handling cab fare after arrest.
