USDA Eyes Cut in 47 Pig Goals
Washington dispatch reports Agriculture Department hints that its 1947 spring pig goals may be cut sharply to reduce livestock production and save grain for humans. It warns meat will grow scarcer as a 10 percent fall pig goal already reduces pork in 1947, with higher feed prices worsening hog and poultry margins. Dairy output not expected to be crippled due to self-sufficient dairies.
