Corrections board stalls plans for Iowa City Hope House center
The 6th Judicial District Corrections board will not sign a 10 year lease for the Hope House work release center until July 1984 when a new Department of Corrections takes effect. The delay could push construction beyond the anticipated November completion. Wayne McCulloh of Project Hope Inc. and DCS President William Faches voiced concern over liability and unclear future responsibilities. The board proposes a state lease to the developer with sublease to Hope House until 1984 when DCS would assume.
