Rickets in Children Despite Medical Promises
The article argues that the 1930 target of eradicating rickets has not been reached though incidence is down. It cites inadequate vitamin D intake and insufficient sunshine for infants and mothers, plus gaps in physicians' guidance and caregiver practices as causes of ongoing rickets and related early-life damage.
Signs and prevention of rickets in infants
The text lists early rickets signs such as thick wrists and ankles flaring ribs chest deformities beaded ribs or rachitic rosary large square head and soft skull spots. It notes most signs appear after four months and rickets typically shows 6 to 18 months. Prevention should start before birth. doctors fear overdosage but vitamin D concentrates are now cheaper, aiding prophylaxis.
