Economic Value Of Native Sparrow Is Told
The Cedar Rapids Bird club heard W. F. Kubichek discuss the native sparrow family and its economic value. He noted the English sparrow is not part of this group and cited weed seed and insect control by sparrows, traced the cardinal to 1900, and mentioned the rose breasted grosbeak, the potato bug bird. He said domestic canaries belong to the sparrow family, and museum specimens of warblers were shown. Club officers were re-elected and plans made for a June picnic. NORTH ENGLISH high school will graduate 24 students on May 25 with a listed class.
