Linn County saves with self insurance switch
Linn County moved from Blue Cross Blue Shield to a self run program in 1982. After three quarters this fiscal year the plan shows a 609723 surplus and projected to reach 700000 by June 30. County Supervisor Joe Rinas says costs are about half of projected premiums and notes full county funding of single and family plans with stop loss coverage.

Marion City Council sets June 6 hearing on farm store rules
The Marion City Council approved a June 6 public hearing on amending the zoning ordinance to require farm and garden supply stores to obtain Board of Adjustment approval before building or expanding in general commercial zones. Existing stores are unaffected unless expanding. The change stems from a resident petition near Marion Ag on Commercial Avenue. The measure also covers extermination and disinfecting services.
