Runaway CSX freight train halted by brave CSX worker
A 70 mile runaway CSX freight train carrying hazardous materials rolled through northwestern Ohio with no one aboard before CSX employee Jon Hosfeld leaped onto the locomotive and stopped it near Kenton. The train, with 47 cars, included 22 loaded ones and two hazardous-but-nonflammable cars. Authorities evacuated about 100 workers near North Baltimore but no injuries or derailment occurred. The incident drew NTSB and FRA investigations. CSX reported minor car damage and said a catch engine assisted braking.
