Cedar Rapids Council Approves Zoning and Paving Plans
Cedar Rapids city council authorized an ordinance to remove the front axle alignment rule for new houses in the same block. The planning commission says the rule is hard to enforce and notes street frontage limits hinder yard setbacks. The council also reviewed equipment lists for the water department expansion and approved plats and bonds for several additions and paving projects. A 1968 concrete paving program contract was approved with Midland Construction Co. along with parking and permit actions, curb cuts, and street light petitions. Public notices include cigar and beer permits, zoning requests, and protests over sidewalk reconstruction.
