Four Cedar Rapids Men Plan Record Boat Voyage
Burt Moen Tom Pfiffer Roland Lefebvre and Bob Conner intend to pilot a 22 foot cabin cruiser from Minneapolis to the mouth of the Mississippi south of New Orleans in under eight days. They seek a Guinness record for navigable extremes while stopping for fuel and city visits along the way. The boat named C R Record Breaker will carry 66 gallons of gas and travel at 28 to 30 mph by day, slower at night, with 11,000 plus spent on the project and more to come. They expect to document the trip with lockmaster signatures and hope to sell the boat in Louisiana after finishing.
