Cedar Rapids Council Acts on Nuisance Fixes and Events
At Wednesday's Cedar Rapids meeting most items were taken under advisement while ordinances and resolutions passed unanimously. Structures at 1191 Weingroad NE and at 625 and 629 Fourth Avenue SE were declared nuisances with orders to repair or demolish. Emerald Knights drum and bugle corps received permission for a June 8 Tag Day. Signs will be installed to stop traffic on Seventeenth Avenue SW at Hamilton Street. A mobile TV unit for United Cerebral Palsy telethon chairman Robert L. McGannon will be placed on Second Avenue SE between Fifth and Sixth Streets, with cable laid across the sidewalk to the KCRG building. A drum and bugle corps tournament of drums parade is set for June 7.

Resolutions set a June 11 public hearing for paving work on Fifteenth Avenue SW from Third to Fourth streets and bids for the project. A highway 30 contract with the state highway commission is authorized. Land vacation for First Avenue Co. was approved after a hearing with no objections. Zoning petitions include R-1 to R-T on Council street, and R-1 to R-36 for Edgewood road area. Ordinance third readings on Bowling Street SW and Edgewood road NE. Various petitions seek mobile home office use, a July 4 fireworks display, alley paving near 824 Eighteenth Avenue SW, a 16-foot curb cut, and traffic/ Memorial Day services related closures and restrictions.

Prairie High Sets 2:30 Sunday Graduation on Wall Field
Prairie High plans a 178 student commencement Sunday at 2:30 p.m. on John W. Wall memorial field for the 1975 class. Speaker lineup includes David Kanellis of Iowa City West and seniors Jim Ross Jan ice Stallman Anne Romick and Jeanine Halva. In case of rain, ceremony moves to the school gym.
