Gas Tanks From Jet Crash North of Monona
Two gas tanks from a T 33 jet trainer fell from the Everett Bollman farm five miles north of Monona. Each tank contained 250 gallons of gasoline and dropped about 800 feet. Gasoline sprayed over the area but no fire occurred. A truck from Waverly Air Force Station retrieved the tanks and took them to Traux Air Force Base Madison Wisconsin. No planes were overhead at the time, and experts believe the tanks traveled on a jet stream for over 100 miles.

State Rejects Urbana Center Point School Merger Appeal
DES MOINES The state board of public instruction rejected a reorgan ization appeal by Center Point and Urbana school districts. The districts sought to overturn a county dismissal of a merger petition already dismissed by Benton and Linn counties. The board said it had no authority to reverse the dismissal. Center Point lies in Linn county and Urbana in Benton county.
