Objects to Ban on Left Turns in Loop

Jay Leonard, secretary of the mercantile bureau of the Chamber of Commerce, appeared before the city council to oppose the no left turn signs in the loop. He urged removing the signs during a Dollar Day sale to avoid confusing out of town visitors. Public safety commissioner Dan Kruidenier said the signs are an experiment and no ordinance will pass until their effectiveness is shown. Leonard agreed to inform bureau members of the plan to trial the signs and potential abandonment if unsuccessful.
